Responsibilities for Sous Chef
Cooking and Preparation: Preparing food, including dishes from the menu, and ensuring they are in a timely manner.
Quality Control: Maintaining high standards of food quality, freshness, and presentation,
Staff Supervision and Training: Overseeing and guiding the kitchen staff, including line cooks, and potentially onboarding new employees.
Menu Development: Collaborating with the chef de cuisine to create new menu items and develop recipes.
Inventory and Ordering: Managing inventory, restocking ingredients, and potentially placing orders for food supplies.
Safety and Sanitation: Ensuring the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Scheduling and Staffing: Assisting with creating work schedules.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the chef de cuisine.
Qualifications for Sous Chef
Culinary Experience: Typically requires a minimum of two years experience in a professional kitchen setting.
Leadership and Communication Skills: Strong ability to lead, delegate tasks, and communicate effectively with staff.
Knowledge of Food Safety and Sanitation: Understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: The ability to handle the demands of a busy kitchen setting.
